Thomastown High School
Madison Parish
Thomastown was a farming town essentially created by the Farm Security Administration’s
(FSA) Resettlement Project when the FSA relocated some residents of Transylvania 60 miles away
to Thomastown, Louisiana. Thomastown High School became the primary school that served this farming community. Today, there is not much left of this town, and the school that was built for the community is abandoned. In 2001, Thomastown High School closed and merged with the students of Reuben McCall High School. Later, Reuben McCall High School consolidated with other schools and formed Madison Parish High School in Tallulah, Louisiana. While Thomastown High School stands vacant and is used for hay storage with vegetation overtaking parts of the building, artifacts of a lost community remain scattered in the modern brick building.
