Southern University Laboratory School

This high school began operating in September 1922, and its earliest name was Southern University Model Training School. In 1930s, the name was changed to Southern University Demonstration School; then a few years later, it was renamed once again to Southern University Laboratory School. This school was accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools in 1936. It prepared its students to become teachers, while also providing a good elementary and secondary education for college- bound students. Its present building location was constructed between 1954 and 1963. In its century of existence, more than 5,000 graduates have passed through its doors. It is located on Southern University’s campus.
