AFRICAN AMERICAN SCHOOL BUILDING REVIVAL
Sabine High School
Sabine Parish

Sabine High School is located in Many, Louisiana, and has deep roots. The school grew out of Sabine Normal and Industrial Institute, which was founded in 1903. This school evolved into Sabine Parish Training School and then Sabine High School in the 1940s. The school served the community as a high school until the 1970s and then became Many Junior High School after integration. This school is listed on the National Register of Historic places, and according to this document, the architects were Van Os and Flaxman. The school was a junior high school until 2001 when it fell to disrepair. Now, there is a significant effort to revitalize the school through the Sabine High Revitalization Project. The goal of the project is to renovate and revitalize the building so that the community can use the building as a community center. There is so much history that the walls of this building contain, and the community of Many is invested in saving its legacy.
