AFRICAN AMERICAN SCHOOL BUILDING REVIVAL
Ross High School
Acadia Parish

Henry Clay Ross was a principal and an advocate for African American education in his community. His engagement with the community bridged a gap between the African American community and politicians bringing in more funding to expand the school, thus increasing the student population. In 1953, a newer school was built and named H. C. Ross High School. After integration in the 1970s, the remained vacant for years before reopening as Ross Headstart in 2016.
