AFRICAN AMERICAN SCHOOL BUILDING REVIVAL
Redmon Spikes High School
Bossier Parish
Redmon Spikes High School began when seven small schools in the region were consolidated. The earliest building built for this school was constructed in 1921 in Elm Grove, Louisiana, and still stands today. The school was named after Reverend Redmond Spikes who was the pastor of New Zion Baptist Church and a community leader. Modern facilities were added as the years went on and the school continued to grow. Now, the school is extant and in use as Elm Grove Elementary School.
