Ouachita Parish

Carroll High School’s history began in 1870 as a small school named Wisner School, which was named after the person who donated the land. The school later changed its name to Monroe Colored High School and was relocated under the leadership of the principal, M. J. Foster. The name of the school changed again to Carroll High School and a new school structure was built in 1953 at its current location. In 1970 the school burned down and was rebuilt in its same location. The school survived integration, and in the 1990s gained a new field house for the football field, a running track, and renovations to the stadiums. Carroll High School still exists today and serves a large portion of Monroe, Louisiana.
